to the Colony, where they will be of assistance in getting
out the estimates.
3. Messrs Webb & Bell have not thought it necessary,
pending the final approval of the designs by the Colonial
Government, to get out the whole of the details of the
buildings. They inform us however that they have suffi-
cient information to prepare all the external architectural
details, and immediately on receipt of information that the
designs have been adopted we will request them to proceed
with this work. This information might be sent by tele-
graph if the matter is considered pressing.
4. They have not quite enough information to enable
them to work out the internal architectural details and
they have therefore at our request furnished us with a
4th Sept/99 memorandum setting out the information which should be sent
to them for this purpose. It is very desirable that all
these details, upon which the success of the building
largely depends, should be prepared by the Consulting
Architects. They have informed us in conversation that
this would take about two months to complete, but instal-
ments could, if desired, be sent out to the Colony from
time to time as they were completed. In the above pro-
posal we do not refer to constructional details which we
understand it is desired should be worked out by the local
staff.
5. After receiving the details from the Architects,
the Colonial Government will be in a position to indent
upon us for such portions of the work, especially the sanitary and heating apparatus, as are best obtained from
