I am sufficiently well acquainted with Chinese language to be able to dispense with an interpreter. I have never received any allowance for my knowledge of Chinese; allowances are granted in the Police and Sanitary Board.
I have the honour to ask that you will be good enough, in view of the above circumstances, to bring the facts to the notice of His Excellency the Governor and recommend me for an increase of salary.
