Extract from letter No.62 of 4th October, 1899 from the Inspector of Schools.

Miss Davies is building a Boarding School and Training Home for Chinese Girls in the London Mission compound on the Bonham Road. There will be a day school attached to it, which she hopes, will take the place of a school, which was in the Taiping-shan Resumption Area, and was closed in 1894. The site and $500 have been given by the London Mission.

The education will be a European education in the Chinese language; the school is to be for the benefit of Chinese girls in the Colony, and the adjacent districts, and it is expected that a number of the girls received will be destitute. This school will be somewhat on the lines of Miss Johnstone's school at Fairlea. The cost of the classrooms and the teachers' quarters is estimated at $4,200.
