Of recent years, the hospital has been fortunate in having progressive men amongst its Committees. This, combined with improvements resultant from the recommendations of the Commission on the Tung Wa Hospital, and the steady, but tactful, pressure exerted by the European and Foreign-trained doctors and officials, have caused a most marked progress in the sanitary arrangements and cleanliness, in the treatment of patients – much more freely prescribed quinine, for one thing, being part of a more systematic classification of the sick, in a large number availing themselves of Western medicines and Foreign-trained doctors, and in many other ways.
