At No is Excellency's suggestion notice had been inserted in the Gazette and local papers inviting the assistance of any interested in the work; in response offers were made by four volunteers viz., Dr Perlack, Mr I. L. Dealy, Dr Bridland of S.S. "Waterwitch", Mr Fletcher of S.S. "Centurion" and Dr. Lowson. Collecting material and instructions were supplied to each of these gentlemen.
Mr Fletcher who is in the habit of sending specimens to the British Museum said he would transmit direct anything he might have. I have not heard from him what he has done. Dr Perlack furnished 19 specimens, 7 of which were complete. Mr Dealy sent in 25, 20 of which being mildewed or incomplete were not used. Dr. Bridland forwarded from Bhutan 26 mosquitoes and 24 Dipterae, of which only 15 were suitable for transmission to London. All of these were received before the 3rd August since which date I have not been able to obtain any more specimens. No specimens in spirit were received from any collectors.
On August 18th I forwarded to the British Museum the first batch of specimens, and on the ... I sent another collection to the same destination. The mosquitoes were of 9 species (?) comprising 185 specimens. Where possible 6 specimens of each species, carefully mounted and labelled with full particulars on small discs of mill-board, and 12 specimens of each sex in spirit were sent.
