The first sentence is rather obscurely worded, but as far as I understand it, the point is that the commutation of rent paid by the Admiralty was really due in the 97 % not in April 98. The mention of rent was not received by us until later.
It does not seem to have been asked to pay interest in respect of the period from the 9th of April 98. I could not, however, ask the Admiralty to pay such interest.
In that case, we should ask for approval of the areas in question being written off as unrecoverable and inform ...
