Tungkun 17th October, 1899.

Dear Sir,

477

According to my promise I have the honour to send the map of the territory of the Rhenish Mission in China. The village Pakkong, where I have been captured by the pere Fulieu is situated near Somtong on the East river. Not very far is the village Machung, where are very many converts of the Roman Church. I am told, that there are plenty of arms and they have prepared all to make a revolution if a foreign power is willing to help.

The domicile of pere Fulieu, who has been translocated a few days before, has been in Tsang-shing, not very far away from the Lo face mountains.

I have &c.

(Signed.) F. Zahn,

Rhenish Missionary.
