I regret to inform you of the death in this Colony, from fever, of your son Miel Gillies, on the 14th July last.

2. At the suggestion of Police Inspector W. G. Warnock, I have forwarded to you by Parcel Post the Jewellery &c. enumerated in the enclosed list, and beg to hand you herewith the key of the cash box containing the same.

3. The other effects of the deceased, which consisted of clothing and heavy furniture, have been disposed of by public auction and the proceeds carried to the account of the estate.

4. An account will be rendered, and the proceeds remitted to you in due course, after payment of claims, if any, against the estate.
