Mr Johnson (Minutes.)

The Governor's Peak Residence

NN 15 (78) ~120555-37AD0-12-EN

Subsequent Paper: $208. 99.00

The original rough Estimate in 1892 was $40,000. Subsequently after the preparation of the plans, the Estimate was raised to $55,000, a little later (see tel: in 246532) to $62,000.

The work was not carried out owing to lack of Funds. Meanwhile the practice has been to hire a summer Residence. The lease of Craigieburn which was rented during Sir William Robinson's term expired in '97, (see 1087) & another residence was rented for three years.

The expiration of the Craigieburn Lease brought the matter up again, and as no other even tolerably suitable house was available it was again decided to build at Bowen as somewhat inconvenient.
