12. In the Post Office I approve the new appt of Deputy Superintendent Registration Branch, and the provision of $3,840 for overtime allowances, express the nature of which is explained in your Despatch no 258 of the 8th September last.
12 I shall be glad to have some further info as to the Steam Tender in regard to which provision is made on p. 26 of the Draft Estimates for the Salaries of the Crew of the Steam & Tender, I presume the Tender in question is the one referred to in the statement enclosed in your Despatch No 263. The hire of that Tender appears to have cost during nine months of the present year the large sum, but no provision appears to be made in the Draft Estimates for the continued hire or the purchase of the Tender. Under these circumstances, I have to point out to you that some provision must be made.
14. As regards the Magistracy I observe that provision is made for the salary of a Police Magistrate in the new Territory, but I leave from
