As an illustration of the manner in which printing is increasing, it may be observed that the pages of the official Gazette up to the end of June 1898 were 600 in number, and that up to the corresponding date this year they amounted to 1,000.
MILITARY The cost of the Volunteer service has risen from $12,000 to $30,000 chiefly owing to the larger number of recruits.
