dawdling, but by the job; nor for any other work but the British and French mails.
Occasionally it happens, as on Tuesday last, when the German, Australian, and Vancouver mails arrived together, and the American and German mails were closed the same day; that was as hard a day as any mail day for Europe that drops in, but the contract mails require an amount of forward sorting that needs great care, and the least mistake produces innumerable complaints frivolous as well as well founded.
