question of the site which I trust Your Excellency may see fit

to grant for the erection of this important Institution.

8. I have refrained from referring to the Nursing

Institute hitherto, because there has been no change of site

contemplated with regard to it. It is still proposed to erect

the building in High Street to the Eastward of the Medical Staff

Quarters, and the only modification in the original scheme is that

it will be built as a Wing to the Quarters, instead of as a

separate building, an arrangement which will commend itself on

the grounds of economy in the management.

9. The plans which I now lay before Your Excellency

have been prepared by Messrs. Palmer and Turner, whose design

was selected out of those originally submitted in competition.

10. As regards the Hospital and Nursing Institute, the

accommodation provided is substantially the same as originally

proposed and an equal number of beds can be given.

11. In consequence of the change of site for the Hospital, it became necessary to make special provision for the

Staff required to manage it, and this has been done by providing

two semi-detached 5-roomed houses in close proximity to it.
