The delay there has been in carrying out the scheme for a Jubilee Memorial which received His approval in June 1897, he notes with satisfaction that the matter has definitely been taken in hand, and trusts that no further time will be lost in completing the works. And in presuming the reply to district the area, it was I think right that the Government should give the site as well as half the cost.

#98,892.28/2) The vote for #98,892.28/2 taken in 1897, and carried in the Supplementary Appropriation Ordinance for that year is lying in deposit on 13316 on its way. A.F. 15/10 is already on a higher site.

Janglad they have chosen the site and half the cost.

1) The government gives half the cost together with expenditure of Maintenance.

2) Has a vote actually been taken for half the cost of the memorial?

3) The hospital and training institution were estimated to cost $60,000; the cost is now put at $91,000. This does not seem to me quite satisfactory.

Mr. Lucas C.PL. 18/10

1) As it was decided that the justification (Hospital & Nursing Institute for the Alexandra) was since earning interest.

3) The original estimate of $54,000 (11153/9). It was always intended to spend half the total sum on Hospital and Nursing Institute. I need not object to the present increased Estimate.

[Mi-Chamberlain may like to see this part of the Jubilee fund is a matter of great importance and has already been before him]
