2. Jobsure that O. mustly refers to Govt. Notification No. 192 of 1889 as warranting "at least the expectations gazetting Mr. Boulton's engagement." It appears to me, however, that Notification obviously indicates that Mr. Boulton's appointment would come to an end when the Praya Reclamation Works were completed; and that the question of his services continuing after that event must be reserved until those Works are very near completion, and must then be decided according to the requirements of the Public Works Department at the time and the financial condition of the Colony. I request that you will furnish me with a further report on the subject when that time arrives.
