certain balance for us on a given date. As the cash accounts
are rendered by them at present, this balance is reduced by any
sums they may have lent on short loans or placed on fixed deposit in a Bank. But I take it that as far as the Colony is
concerned it is of no importance (except as regards the question of earning interest) whether the balance the Crown Agents
hold on its account is in the Crown Agents' current account at
some bank or on fixed deposit in any bank or lent on sufficient
security to satisfy themselves to any person or corporation.
