2. The loss or spoliation of a parcel or bag of parcels while in the custody of one of the contracting Administrations give right to an indemnity equivalent to the loss or damage suffered, but such indemnity will, in the case of non-insured parcels, not exceed ten dollars (25 francs) for each parcel for or from Foreign countries and five dollars for each parcel exchanged between Hongkong and China, or, in the case of insured parcels, the amount of insurance but not exceeding five hundred dollars per parcel.
3. The protection granted above by the two contracting Administrations to registered articles and parcels will cease as soon as the articles have been duly received by the addressees or handed over to other Administration, and it will not cover losses or cases of force majeure such as tempest, shipwreck, war, highway robbery, or other causes beyond the control of the Administration concerned.
Article VIII.
China mail matter for or from Hongkong.
Each Administration will use its own postage stamps to frank its own mail matter. Consequently, all correspondence and parcels originating in Chinese Post Offices destined for Hong-Kong
