I shall continue until I am in a position to say what the probable cost of completing the works will be.

I had intended to appoint D. Tsunnie for permanent duty in the new district; but a short experience has shown me that it is essential, if the Regulations are to be carried out, that a capable officer should be appointed.

Now that Mr. Stewart has returned to his duties at the Tung Wah Hospital, I have appointed a Chinese Medical Officer at Taipo, where, in my opinion, one is required at present.
