I have the honour to report that I have made the follow-
ing temporary appointments in the New Territory and to request
your approval thereof.
(1) Mr. Tsoi Yeuk Shan to be Chief Chinese assistant
at a salary of $100 rising to $150 a month.
(e) Mr. Ho Nai Hop to be Chinese Medical assistant at
a salary of $100 a month.
(3) Mr.Cheng Sam Fung to be Chinese assistant to the
Land Officer at a salary of $30 rising to $40 a month.
(4) Mr. Yam U to be Chinese writer at a salary of $20
rising to $30 a month.
2. No permanent appointments will be made until the
requirements in the New Territory can be better ascertained,
but it is probable that if the above mentioned officers prove
