AUG 19
Government House,
Hong Kong,
July, 1899.
I have the honour to inform you that
owing to the extension of the Yaumati Police District consequent upon the acquisition of the New Territory, the Police Inspector at that Station has no longer time to act as officer in charge of the Harbour Department staff there, and it has been necessary to relieve him of those duties.
It is also considered desirable to remove the Harbour station from Yaumati to Sham-Shui-Po, where the quarters hitherto occupied by the Chinese Customs are available, and I have to request your authority for the appointment of a European officer to take charge of this station at a salary of $80 a month.
The Right Honourable
JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.
&c.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your Most Obedient
Humble Servant,
Henry Arthur Blake
GOVERNOR &C.
