I have the honour to submit for the consideration of His Excellency the Governor the necessity for appointing an additional Assistant Superintendent of Police in this Force over and above the Assistant Superintendent recommended in my memorandum of the 13th of December 1897 on the subject of the prevention of corruption in the Police Force.

My recommendation was approved and submitted to the Secretary of State for the Colonies in Despatch No.65 of the 11th March 1898.

The grounds upon which the revival of the post of Assistant Superintendent of Police was urged, are fully set out in paragraph (e) of my memorandum referred to above, and have no connection whatever with the increase to this Force occasioned
