Sir,

RECR
No.? 7 AUG 19
234
COLONIAL SECRETARY OFFICE.
Hong Kong, 28th April, 1899.
Referring to your letter No.4 of the 19th instant,
I am directed to inform Your Honour that Charles Bithrey has duly arrived in Hong Kong in charge of Andrew Brown Hill and was admitted into the Lunatic Asylum on the 25th instant.
The sum of $20 forwarded with your letter has been paid to Hill as requested, and I return the receipts for that amount, duly signed and attested.
As the accommodation for Europeans in the Asylum is very limited, I am to request that steps may be taken for Bithrey's removal to England at an early date.
The charge for his detention and maintenance in the Asylum is $3 a day, and I shall be glad to receive periodical remittances so long as he is confined there.
His Honour,
The Chief Justice,
Shanghai.
I have &c.
(Signed) J.G.T.Buckle,
Colonial Secretary.
