Agent of the Syndicate of smugglers

I made the first payment to Cheng on

account of

bribes

for

the Police.

Altogether I made eight fragmentary payments to

Cheng on for

such bribes, and

I made the last payment in the

Chinese

6th moon of the year before last

(June to July 1897).

I am engaged in the same

business still

and have been

engaged in it since July 1897, but

I have not paid any bribes for

the Police since that date.

And I make this solemn declaration

conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of The Statutory Declarations Act 1835.
