In first proviso (4) for contributer read public Officer throughout.
cl 10 requires some redrafting under:
"The abatement of four per centum per annum from the salary of a public officer shall continue to be made until such public officer has either attained the age of sixty-five years, or has been subject to the abatement for thirty years, whichever may first happen, and that thereupon cease and determine."
We amend also to transfer the proviso (in appropriate form) to end of clause 35.
c. 11. We would add to this clause the proviso to s 11 of Ceylon Ordinance 1 of 1898.
In l. 2 alter "in lieu of" to "in lieu of".
In l. 10 omit "ordinary"; and for "in" read "of".
In l. 13 after "widow" insert "or widower" and before "children" cut out the words "so retiring or being deprived of the".
In l. 14 Insert "or widower" before "children".
In l. 19 alter "fifty" to "twenty-four" as in old Hong Kong Ordinance.
Cut out the words "the pension which are or ordinary" as they are meaningless.
d23 for "quinquennially" read "from time to time". Omit the words "to be approved by the Governor with the advice of the Executive Council" and insert the words "according to the tables contained in the schedule to this Ordinance" after the words "from time to time".
We would omit d27 (pension to children) as it is a subject for rules & is already provided for in them. If it is retained seem better to limit its effect to cases where there are children by a previous marriage entitled to pension under s 28.
M31 ? add "on behalf of such minor" after "paid" in l5.
The italic passage following clause 31 should be a separate clause, with there insert "a child or" before "children" in l2.
Instead of "the guardian of such children" insert "a fit and proper person on behalf of each child or children".
Omit the words "Such payments shall be considered final".
d35. (Ithors clause (see above)) we amend.
d37 and the proviso to end of clause 35 of the draft.
Printer's error after clause I omit the words "and children whose ages would entitle them to pension in case of his death".
Schedule B of Ordinance 30 of 1890 refers to the proposed amendment of clause 23 further amended Straits (see 1681446).
