88 dead bodies (62 male and 26 female) were brought to the Hospital Mortuary to await burial.
In the case of 18 dead bodies (13 brought in dead and 5 of the deaths in hospital), I considered internal examination necessary to a satisfactory diagnosis of the causes of death, and made such internal examinations at the Public Mortuary. No objection has been made by the Tung Wah Hospital Directors or other officers to the transference to the Public Mortuary of such bodies as in my opinion, for reasons of public health or other cause, required post-mortem section.
Free burial was provided by the charitable funds of the Tung Wah Hospital during the three months under review for 402 poor persons from the Tung Wah Hospital itself, the Government Civil Hospital, and the Public Mortuary.
25,374 out-patients (18,108 male and 7,266 female) are reported as having been seen by the six native doctors in the out-patient department.
1685 vaccinations were performed during the past three months, as compared with 1588 during the whole of 1898, in Hong Kong and the outlying villages by a public vaccinator connected with the Tung Wah Hospital, as follows:
