VI. The Employer shall provide, at his own expense, sufficient lodging and medical attendance to the Emigrants. Food and clothing to be found by the Emigrants, but should any difficulty be experienced as to obtaining them, the said Employer to furnish the same at current rates, deducting the amount of the same together with all previous advance made from the wages due to the said labourers.
VII. Should any Emigrant, being ill for more than 30 days in one year, or not being ill wilfully refuse to perform his work, the Employer shall be at liberty to deduct the amount of wages that would have been due for the days thus lost from the monthly payment, in addition to claiming overtime work to make them good:-Provided always that, should there be any disagreement between the Employer and the Emigrant as to the deductions and over time thus provided for, they shall be verified on oath before a Magistrate or other competent official of the district in which the stoppage is made, and be duly entered in Coolie's account book.
VIII. In the event of the said Emigrant dying before his time of agreement expires, the said Employer engages to furnish his remains with decent burial according to Chinese custom.

IX. After once embarking, the Emigrant engages to behave properly while on passage, complying with the regulations of the ship.
X. This agreement is entered into for the period of one year to commence on the date of this deed, or until such time as all the advances made to the Emigrants have been refunded; but in no case shall this Agreement extend beyond a period of 3 years.
