Eastern Boundary of the present Victoria Recreation Club

buildings, thus leaving a water space between the Western Wall

of the R.N.Yard Extension and the Eastern Boundary Wall of the

Praya Reclamation.

My proposal is to reclaim this water space as

far as the Eastern and Western line of the Praya sea wall, to

submit to the Admiralty through the Commander in Chief, that

the water side portion may be allowed to be used by the Vic-

toria Recreation Club on a long lease, at a nominal rent, giving

them nearly double the area they now cover and meeting their

views as far as practicable in the way of slips and conveni-

ences for boating on the sea front, and that the remainder of

this reclaimed ground be used as a site for the new R.N. Sea-

men's Club.

Murray Pier is now the general landing and em-

barking place for Liberty Men, and so far as I can gather, the

proposal to erect a good building for the purpose of a R.N.

Seamen's Club on this site would not be unfavourably received

by the residents.

We have the good fortune to have added the name

of Mr.T.Jackson of the HongKong and Shanghai Banking Company

to our Committee of Naval Officers, and we look forward with

satisfaction to the henefit of his experience and local know-

ledge.

I have,.,

($4.) SWINTON C.HOLLAND.
