I append a table showing in detail the admis-

sions and mortality during the quarter.

Of the 768, 583 were under Chinese native treat-

ment,179 were treated by Dr. Chung according to European me thois,

and 6 were transferred to the Govt. Civil Hospital.

Of the 275 deaths, 68 cases (56 male & 12 fe-

male) were moribund on admission, death occurring within 24

hours after reception into the Hospital. When curative treat-

ment is manifestly hopeless, palliative treatment is adminis-

tered by Dr. Chung or the native doctors, as may have been se-

lected by the patient or his friends. Of the 68 cases above

mentioned, 15 are classed as having been under European treat-

ment, and 53 as under Chinese treatment.

87 dead bodies (68 male & 19 female) were

brought to the Mortuary to await burial.

243 destitute persons were temporarily housed

and fed, as follows:-
