I append a table showing in detail the admis-
sions and mortality during the quarter.
Of the 768, 583 were under Chinese native treat-
ment,179 were treated by Dr. Chung according to European me thois,
and 6 were transferred to the Govt. Civil Hospital.
Of the 275 deaths, 68 cases (56 male & 12 fe-
male) were moribund on admission, death occurring within 24
hours after reception into the Hospital. When curative treat-
ment is manifestly hopeless, palliative treatment is adminis-
tered by Dr. Chung or the native doctors, as may have been se-
lected by the patient or his friends. Of the 68 cases above
mentioned, 15 are classed as having been under European treat-
ment, and 53 as under Chinese treatment.
87 dead bodies (68 male & 19 female) were
brought to the Mortuary to await burial.
243 destitute persons were temporarily housed
