I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your despatch No. 323 of the 14th. ultimo approving of the
temporary appointment of an additional Junk Inspector at a
salary of $40 a month from 12th. October last,
2. As the Harbour Master reports that during
the last three months of 1898 the receipts from Junk Licences,
Fishing Licences, Anchorage Passes, Permits and Clearances
have increased by $1094, I propose to continue the appoint.
ment until such time as the Assistant Harbour Master returns
to his proper duties.
