I am directed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 25th ultimo, and to express his regret that, owing to unavoidable causes, it has not been possible to give earlier consideration to the question of the pensionable allowance in the case of Mr. M. McIver.
