I am directed by the Comptroller and Auditor General
to transmit to you, for the information of the Secretary of
State, a copy of the Annual Account of the Treasurer of
Hong Kong for the year 1896, to which the certificate of
the Comptroller and Auditor General has been appended,
together with a copy of the Statement of Assets and
Liabilities of the Colony on 31st December 1896.
I am at the same time to forward the Report of
the Comptroller and Auditor General on the Account,
together with Detailed Statements of Receipts and Expend-
iture, and to request that these Statements, being in
original, may be returned.
