of the formation of a Battalion of Chinese Infantry,
directed by the Marquis of Lansdowne to transmit, for the
information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies,
&
copy of the letter of instructions to Major Bower, Indian
Staff Corps, who has been entrusted with the duty of
raising the Battalion.
Lord Lansdowne will be glad if Mr. Secretary.
Chamberlain will cause any necessary communication to be
made to the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject.
