as registration of the lease in the Land Register of
the Consulate will mean a definite recognition of
this Company and the others as entitled to British
protection, I hope to be favoured with your instruc-
tions on the subject.
I may mention that, at the special request of
His Excellency the Officer Administering the Govern-
ment of Hongkong, I have brought the general question
of these new companies to his notice in a despatch to
which I have not yet received a reply.
