FOREIGN OFFICE,
R
April 26th 1898.
RREGELU AIR CO
The Chinese Minister called at this Office on
the 21st instant and said that he had noticed a ques-
tion asked in the House of Commons and Mr. Secretary
Chamberlain's answer respecting the order of exile
issued at Hong Kong against Dr Sun yat sen.
The Minister oxpressed the hope that the order
would remain in force; he observed that if allowed to
return to Hong Kong the Doctor would be in a position
to promote disturbances at Canton.
I am directed by the Secretary of State to re-
quest you to inform Mr. Chamberlain of this communi-
cation, and I am to refer you to the despatch from
Sir C. MacDonald respecting insurrectionary schemes
at Canton which was inclosed in my letter of the
12th of December 1896.
dez Secretary of State.
I am, Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble Servant,
Francis Bertie
