In reply to Mr Lucas's letter of the 22nd

ultimo (23479/98), I am directed by the Lords Commis-

sioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to state, for the infor-

mation of Mr Secretary Chamberlain, that the Mint has been

informed that the subsidiary coinage for Hong Kong re- quisitioned by Mr Wingfield's letter of the 12th ultimo is in addition to the usual fortnightly consignment of

two and a half million 10 cent pieces.

I am to add that Their Lordships understand that the Mint will not be able to undertake any further coinage on behalf of the Government of Hong Kong in 1898 beyond the supplies already ordered.
