Each Officer is allowed to remit home, through the Government, any sum ceeding his half-pay, but only at the market rate of exchange.
1. The engagement will be for five years only. Subject to the approval of
ptain Superintendent of Police and of the Colonial Surgeon, a "Constable engage for a further term of five years.
At the expiration of each of these terms of five years' service he
es entitled to a second class return passage.
And he can apply through the Captain Superintendent of Police for ssion to return to the service within a period not exceeding nine months.
Should this application be approved, he will receive half-pay during his
ce, and a return passage to the Colony.
On his return he shall be reinstated in his relative position in the force. . Should he not take leave but remain in the Colony at the expiration thor either of these two terms of five years' service, he will receive a sum
to three months' pay of his substantive rank by way of bonus.
IX. Should he be allowed to continue in the force on the completion of his d term of service, he may, on his final retirement, be allowed a pension ding to regulations from time to time issued by the Colonial Government the approval of the Secretary of State. Under the regulations recently no pension will be granted for less than fifteen years service, nor until fficer has reached the age of 45 years, except in case of retirement on the d of ill-health.
. Should a Constable be compelled to retire through ill-health before ten
a gratuity of one month's pay for each year's service may be granted.
I. On joining the service cach man has to provide himself with a uniform he cost of which is $5.
II. As a rule he has to perform 6 hours' duty in each twenty-four hours, ally between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.; but is liable to be called on for extra
