Referring to your letter of the 5th November 1897

No. 23389/97 I have the honour to transmit to you for the

information of the Secretary of State, a copy of the

Agreement into which we have entered on behalf of the

Government of Hong Kong with the following men on their

appointment as Police Constables in that Colony.

A passage was provided for Constable Kerr in the

steamship "Australia" which left London on the 11th instant

and Constables McKenzie, Quinn, Smith, Garrod, Kent and

Lacock will proceed in the S. S. "Merionethshire" leaving

London about 25/26 instant.

The departure of Constable Terrett has not yet

been fixed but we hope to get him away early next month.

Copies of the Agreements have been forwarded to

the Colonial Government.
