and
your instructions in the matter, he should be granted an all- mentary allowance of $120 per mensem,or preferably an advance of $180 in order to enable him to leave the Colony at once, a
further that Mr. Crow be required to vacate the Government quar-
ters at present occupied by him forthwith.
The decision of the Council, in which I fully
concur, has been communicated to Mr. Crow, but there has not yet
been time to receive a reply as to which condition he prefers
to accept.
I have, therefore, to request your formal con-
firmation of the recommendations of the Executive Council in
Mr. Crow's case, and I will inform you later as to which condi-
tion he is prepared to accept.
With regard to Mr. Crow's request to be granted
a retiring allowance, the Council was of opinion that such re-
quest could not be considered by them in view of Colonial Of-
fice Regulation No.94, and in that opinion I concur.
Mr. Crow has intimated his intention of memo-
rializing you in reference to his case, and I will transmit his
memorial by the earliest opportunity after its receipt. I will
also forward to you by next mail my recommendations for fill-
ing the prospective vacancy in the event of Mr. Crow's office
becoming vacant.
I shall be glad to receive a telegraphic reply
to this despatch as soon as possible.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your most obedient
Humble Servant,
Amy Astake
GOVERNOR, &C.
