Hong-Kong, 2nd. December, 1898.

I have the honour to inform you that Miss Ger-

trude Brookes, Nursing Sister in the Government Civil Hospital,

has tendered her resignation of her appointment with effect

from the 29th. instant, and that I have accepted it from that

date on the ground of private affairs.

I append a copy of a telegram which I sent to

you on the 30th.ultimo, and I request that a successor to Miss Brookes may be engaged by the Crown Agents on the terms men- tioned in the enclosed paper of particulars, and that arrange- ments may be made for her departure for this Colony at the earliest possible date.
