&C

The humble petition of the under-

signed Chinese Civil Servants in the

employ of the Govt. of Hong-Kong.

Humbly Sheweth,

Your Petitioners are all of them employed by the

Hong-Kong Government and are paid in the currency of the Co-

lony and the majority of them have been so employed for pe-

riods ranging from 15 to 25 years.

سن

Your Petitioners have with very few exceptions born

and brought up in the Colony of Hong-Kong and have there been

accustomed more after the European style than the Chinese.

In their own country in the vicinity of the sea the food of the Chinese consists principally of pork, poultry, beef, fresh or dried fish, sweet potatoes, Chinese long beans and other Chinese vegetables, but in consequence of your Petition- ers' parents having been brought into every day contact with

Europeans in Hong-Kong and heen accustomed to meat and other

European articles of food as their natural diet your Peti-

tioners have, from infancy been also accustomed to the same European style of living.
