On receipt of your No.957 of 13th. inst. refer-
ring to the Honourable The Colonial Treasurer's letter of 14th,
May and our reply dated 21st.idem and directing our attention
to the return furnished by us on the 2nd. inst, which shews
Notes in circulation to the value of $2,836,976 or $86,976 in excess of the limit of $2,750,000 arranged between our Head
Office and the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury,
we at once communicated with our Branches at Penang, Shanghai
and Singapore and Agency at Bangkok. In reply we have been
informed that the daily average issue for April last was as
follows.-
