I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your despatch No.165 of the 8th of June last, sub- mitting for approval the grant of a gratuity of $450 to Police Constable Robert Graham.

The gratuity appears to be correctly calcu- lated in accordance with my despatch No.40 of the 15th of February last, and I have therefore to signify my approval of it. Before any steps are taken, however, to pay the sum in question to Mr Graham, you will doubt-
less satisfy yourself that if he has not already done

he will fulfil the condition on which this allow-
ance was granted, viz: that he should leave the Colony
and not return to it.
