two years after your Petitioner entered his said agreement repeated except Sections 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 thereof by Ordinance Wr. 14 of 1887 but by Section of such Ordinance it was provided the "such repeals shall not affect the past operation of the said (repealed) Ordinar or any thing done or

After the experation of the said pers of five years for which he agreed to server Government of Hong Kong Your Petition in pursuance of the right acquired by his under Section 11 of Ordinance 9 of 1862. engaged and bound himself to serve the Government of stong exlong for a further period of five years upon the same term and conditions as under his said Agree ment of the 17th day of September 1885.
In or about the month of March 1893 your Petitioner applied for and his charact having been good obtained six months leve of absence on half pay and went to his nate country.
Oh his return to the Colony of Hong the your Petitioner in pusuance of the right. acquired by him as aforesaid.

your Petitioner has not been permitted by the said Captain Superintendent of Police or the Government of Hong Hong to renew his said Agreement or to remain in the Police Force of Hong Kong.
No reason whatever has been assigned to your
Petitioner for such refusal to permit him to remain in the Police Force and your Petitioner is entirely without knowledge of any grounds for such refusal.
