Understanding that circumstances may cause a
vacancy, during the ensuing Summer, in the appointment of
Postmaster General in the Colony, I have the honour to subait, for
the consideration of the Right Honourable The Secretary of State
for the Colonies, ny application for the post.
On the 11th. instant I shall complete eight and a
half years' service as Assessor of Rates in the Colony, having
been appointed on the 12th. of October, 1889.
In support of my application I may say that my
Father has been Postmaster of the Blosson Street, York Office for
about thirty years, and having been frequently required to assist
hin I have a knowledge of the duties in connection with the working
of a Post Office in England; during the indisposition of my Father
or when he was absent on leave I have often had charge of the
Office, and the making up of the accounts. I have a practical ac-
