Hong-Kong, 29th. March, 1898.
I have the honour, by direction of the Sanita-
>
ry Board, to request that His Excellency the Officer Adminis-
tering the Government will be pleased to request Mr.J. R.
Crook, the Surveyor to the Board, to make full inquiries into
the working of Refuse destructors and their adaptability to
this Colony, while he is on leave in England, and to forward
a report to the Board on the subject at an early date.
I am to add that Mr. Crook has expressed his
willingness to undertake this work if his expenses in con-
nection therewith are guaranteed by the Government and he
is furnished with the necessary introductions by the Crown
Agents for the Colonies.
