nese Detectives received bribes. There were two Inspectors
on the Detective Staff and two Sergeants. When I heard that
the two Inspectors Stanton & Quincey and the two Sergeants
No.43 & No. 3 received bribes I believed it to be true. I
also heard and believed it to be true that No.10 Inspector
received bribes.
It would have been impossible for these two
gambling houses to have been kept open if the Inspectors
Stanton & Quincey had not been bribed.
By Inspector Quincey: -I was never sent out
to enquire regarding gambling houses. If I had a report to
make I made it to Stanton & to you. Sometimes I reported to
Stanton and sometimes to you. I do not know whose district
Wa Lane & Cheung Hing Lane are in. I have heard that they
ae-in, I have heard that they are in No.10's district.
I did not report these two gambling houses
because I had received bribes and Tang Chung ordered me not
to do so and said that all the Inspectors were bribed. I
have made enquiries for you. I have gone out with you to
make enquiries. I have gone to break gambling houses with
you. I do not know of any gambling houses in your district.
