in these daily accounts. The $3 a day for Quincey was in-

cluded in the daily account entered in these slips. The dai-

ly account was balanced daily and the balance to debit or

creait was entered in the leaser.

The day I was arrested I did not expect to

be arrested and to have my books seizea.

I expected that if a raid was made at all it

would be made at Wa Lane,

I was arrested and all my books were seized

at No. 3., East Street.

I wrote this list of persons in receipt of

bribes myself. I wrote the two items which refer to Quincey.

I did not write the whole of the daily account slips. I en-

tered in them the daily amounts of bribes paid at No.5, East

Street. The bribes paid at the gambling house were not writ-

ten by me. I wrote the leager.

This list, the account slips and the books are

in the same condition as the day I was arrested & have not

been altered since they were in my possession.

By Inspector Quincey:-I know you because I have seen you in

the street and other people have pointeqyou out to me as

Inspector Quincey.

I have seen you two or three times since I

have been in Hong-Kong. You have never audressed me or shewn
