Note.

I remember the 29th, day of the 5th. Chinese

moon (28th, June). I saw the Inspector on that day at 9.50

2. M.

I saw him in his office at the Central Station. I had a

conversation with him. The detectives were in the verandah.

There was no one else in the Office except me and the Ins-

pector. I asked the Inspector why did you send for me. He

said the Captain Supt. of Police wants to see you. At that

time the Captain Supt. of Police was not yet in the office

so the Inspector said "I know your father & mother & your

younger sister,& your father is my good friend. When the Cap-

tain Supt. of Police wants you, you be careful to speak about

your affairs, and not about my affairs. I went to the Captain

Supt. of Police's Office, and spoke about the jewellery that

had been pledged. I did not speak about anything else on tha

occasion. When I was in the Captain Supt. of Police's Office

Inspector Stanton acted as Interpreter.

Inspector Stanton has told me that I had

been reported to him as a watchman to gamblers. That was on

the morning of the 29th. of the 5th.moon, when I had the con-

versation in the Inspector's Office. He said "it was only a

slight offence. I do not wish to have you banished. I under-

stood when the Inspector tola me not to speak about his af-

fairs that I was not to speak about his receiving money.

4e Inspec-

I have knowledge of the Inspector's money af-

fairs. San Yin told me that I need not be afraid of cer-

tain Inspectors as they received bribes. When the Inspec-
