Tse Leung states: -I was a watchman in the Wa
Lane gambling house at No.2. I was engaged by San Yin. I was employed for 4 years as watchman. I have myself gambled in
No. 2 Wa Lane. I have gambled there more than 10 times. I
watched at the entrance into Hollywood Road. I was able to
see the people who went to gamble at No. 2. There were tradem
and all kinds of people. There were 44 men employed in the
house. There was one lot of beads used. There were 5 places
for staking. The gamblers who had more money staked more and
those who had less less. The least stake allowed was 20 or
30 cents. The largest stakewas 201 dollars. The stakers of
cents and stakers of collars would stake in the same place
on the table.
I know the Inspector present. He is Inspector
Stanton. I have known him more than 10 years. When I have
been on watch at the entrance to Wa Lane I have seen Inspec-
tor Stanton. He was passing by. I saw him almost on alternate
nights since the beginning of the year. There were other
watchmen besides me helping me to watch. There were 3 others.
Their names were Luk Son, Yeung Fat and San Tsat. We 4 watch -
ed at the same time. The Inspector never spoke to us. He
never drove me or any of the others away. The Inspector has
never visited the house.
