With reference to C. S. 0.565 in which is en-

closed a Petition from the Indian Gaol Staff praying, inter alia, for the privilege of remitting half their salary to India at the same rate of Exchange as the Police a prayer which received the support of Mr. Lethbridge in his letter No.45 of the 1st.of March, 1897 I have the honour to in-
form you that the IndianGaol Staff have again asked me to
recommend that the privilege of remitting half their pay to
India on the same terms as the Police be granted to them.
The pay of the Indian Gaol Staff is as fol-
lows:-
